Canyons of the Ancients National Monument
We were drawn to this area of SW Colorado for many reasons. Take a look at this travel video of our region to be introduced to the treasures within Canyons of the Ancients National Monument.

Sand Canyon TrailThe Sand Canyon trailhead begins at the bottom of our hill. This 6 mile hike drops into the winding canyons seen in the background of this photo. This area offers the largest concentration of cultural sites in the US. Our guests will be able to take the trail one way (shuttle service) or round trip. Please visit the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) site to learn more about the 176,000-acre monument we border, view trail map of Sand Canyon and see photos of the exceptional ruins seen from this path.

Future EventsWe have such goals and dreams! With the rich history of our area we would first like to launch Sand Canyon House as a gathering place for archaeological events.
We consider ourselves stewards of this land and will expect our guests to honor this ground. Take a look at the photo gallery on our site to see our first event, our own wedding. |
This is the front of our unique home. We started building in 2009, camping on the property for two summers/falls. We went through 4 tents during those beginning years! The wood you see has been carefully salvaged from several old structures around SW Colorado. Much work goes into bringing these boards back to life. The richness of the wood could only be found in these century old materials.

Here you get introduced to part of the plaza. This area has spectacular 100 mile views in all directions taking in six mountain ranges, including Bears Ears, Abajo and La Sal Mountains of SE Utah, Grand Mesa, San Juan and La Plata Mountains of SW Colorado. We also get to see Pt. Lookout of Mesa Verde and are only 6.5 miles (as the crow flies) from Sleeping Ute Mountain. The plaza was created by a feature we inherited when we bought the property, a huge concrete wall forming 90 degree angle. At the curved center of the wall we have created a stage for music and/or speakers. See more photos on our gallery page.
